The Connecticut Trolley Museum (CTM) presents June(&Some Summer) events that start June 10th.

June 10th– Connecticut Open House Day- CT Trolley Museum will participate in the 19th Annual Connecticut Open House Day – a unified celebration of the State’s fascinating world of art, history, and tourism – on June 10th, 2022. During this one-day event, CT Trolley Museum, along with more than 200 other organizations and attractions throughout the state, will open its doors and offer special incentives (discounts, free admission, free gifts, special offers, etc.) to visitors. This Museum’s participation in this event will run from 10am-4pm during which time the Museum will honor half off admission. To qualify for this offer all visitors must show a valid Connecticut driver’s license or proof of residency.

June 18th– Father’s Day Behind the Scenes Tour & Guest Motorman Day-“Behind-the-Scenes” tour will give visitors the opportunity to take a close-up look at some of the current restoration projects including Connecticut Company Car #3001 (almost 121 years old!), Brooklyn Rapid Transit #169 (128 years old!) & Northern Ohio Traction & Light Co. #1500 (113 years old!). Additionally, tour the grounds that are normally closed off to visitors with a Museum guide. Additionally, take a trolley ride operated by period dressed motormen. Learn historic information about each car you ride and how the museum began. Inside the Visitor Center you will find more static trolley cars and artifacts, a theater showing a trolley themed movie and a gift shop to buy that ‘special’ souvenir. On the same grounds is the Connecticut Fire Museum complete with antique fire trucks and apparatus. All activities and Fire Truck Museum entrance is included with your admission price. Admission prices are $13 for Adults, $11 for Children ages 2-11 & half off for Museum MembersDads and Granddads receive FREE admission when accompanied by a paying adult or child.

June 20th- Summer Hours Begin– All summer long CTM will hold many activities including– Trolley Rides: Take a trolley ride operated by period dressed motormen on a trolley car dating back to the early 1900’s. Learn historic information about the collection and how the Museum began. Trolley Experiences: Get up close and personal as you climb aboard selected trolleys from the Museum’s incredible collection in the Visitors Center. From streetcars to Interurban cars this is your chance to take the controllers and let your imagination “operate”.  Crafting Station: Make a Motorman Hat, create your own trolley fare ticket & more. Take your new creations home with you for future use. Scavenger Hunt/ISPY- Hunt through the Visitors Center to locate Trolley History answers for a chance to win a trolley fare token. Dress-up Station: Dress up as a Motorman or Conductor! Great Photo op! Scavenger Hunt– Navigate through the Visitors Center using a scavenger Hunt. Whoever completes the hunt wins a souvenir trolley fare token. LEGO Build– put your building skills to the test and create a design to coincide with the weekly transportation theme. Creations stay at the Museum to be broken down at the end of the day. Fire Truck Museum: View over 15 Fire Trucks dating back to 1923.  Learn more about the Fire Truck Museum’s collection along with historic Fire Fighting Equipment. (Admission to Fire Truck Museum is included in the Trolley Museum admission ticket).

Storytime Trolleys: Featuring stories about the adventures of trolleys and trains. The reading will be inside one of our historic trolleys and a trolley ride will follow. Every story is different, and all ages are welcome! Storytime is included with paid admission. Stories will be read every Tuesday and Friday at 11am throughout the summer. STEM Lesson-Learn how trolleys operate with a hands-on stem presentation every Wednesday throughout the summer. Dinosaur Fun– Learn about local dinosaur life through fun hands-on activities every Thursday throughout the Summer.
