On this special week of giving, we hope that you’ll think about the cultural and historic treasure that is the Connecticut Trolley Museum.
Giving Tuesday is the world’s biggest day of generosity. We invite you to join the cause, today through November 29th, by donating to our Connecticut Company Trolley Car 3001 Restoration Fund.
- The Museum has the distinction of being the nation’s oldest incorporated trolley museum.
- The average age of the trolleys in the Museum’s operating fleet is 105 years old!
- The Museum’s staff, volunteers and the Board are all working hard to ensure that the Trolley Museum will continue to thrive well into the future as one of our Region’s great living history museums.

All gifts received today through November 29th will be used to support the ongoing restoration of the Connecticut Company Trolley Car 3001. This trolley was built by the Wason Manufacturing Company of Springfield, Massachusetts in 1922. It is NOW 100 years old! Its entire service life was in Connecticut – first in Torrington and then in New Haven.
Restoration of this car has been a multi-year project funded through the generous support provided by grants and donations from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, several private foundations and many individual donors. The significance of this project inspired our restoration manager and volunteers to work through the pandemic. The interior work has been done, motors have been repaired, and new seats are currently being constructed. We are close to completion but need funds for exterior and roof work. Contributions received will be used to purchase supplies, materials and labor needed in the upcoming year.
