2-1-1 Information Seminar @ Warehouse Point Library

On Saturday, November 17 at 11 a.m at the Warehouse Point Library in East Windsor, Jeanette Baker, marketing coordinator at the United Way of Connecticut, will be offering a free workshop to explain Connecticut 2-1-1 resources.  This guided tour of the 211’s online directory will explain all that 211 services can provide in the event of a health or human services support need that you, your clients, or loved ones may be facing.  Throughout its 42-year history, 2-1-1 has connected people to a wide range of services from disaster relief to utility assistance, senior citizen programs, emergency food, job counseling, youth programs and much more. Join us at the Library to learn more about what 2-1-1 offers.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST KICKS OFF THE OPERA HOUSE PLAYERS 5OTH ANNIVERSARY SEASON.

Opera House Players, Inc. presents Beauty and The Beast at the Enfield Annex (formerly Fermi High School), 124 North Maple Street, Enfield, CT 06082 on November 2nd through 25th (Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm). Tickets available by calling the box office at 860-292-6068 or visiting www.operahouseplayers.org. Tickets: $23 (adults) and $19 (under 12/over 60, or students with a valid ID). Group discount available for groups of 15 or more.

Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. This tale as old as time is sure to provide and enchanted night for all members of the family both young and old.

This production of Beauty and The Beast will be directed by  Becca Coolong, with musical direction from Devon Bakum and choreography by Krista Brueno.

Gift certificates and 2018-2019 season tickets available by calling the box office.

“Turkey Shoot” w/ East Windsor Lions

The East Windsor Lions Club  47th Annual Turkey Shoot is happening on Sundays.
During the “shoot,” shooters use shotguns from a distance of 25 yards to shoot at targets with  turkeys emblazoned on them. There are 20 shooters in each round, and the shooter whose shot that is closest to the bulls-eye wins the round.
 
Shooters can win prizes ranging from frozen turkeys, frozen hams, and beef roasts, to gift cards and cash. Tickets for each round of shooting cost from $2.25 to $3.50, depending on the prize being awarded for that round. There are also “special” shooting rounds, where shooters can win larger prizes.
 
The Turkey Shoot will run for six consecutive Sunday mornings, Oct. 14th thru Nov. 18th. Ticket sales for the shooting rounds will begin at 8:15 AM every Sunday, with the actual shooting rounds running from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM (or last shooter).
 
Shotgun ammo is provided, and there are shotguns available to use for persons without shotguns who are interested in shooting.
 
Special: Kids 12 & under get 1 free ticket to shoot (in a “small bird” round).
 
The East Windsor Lions Club Turkey Shoot has provided SAFE fun for the entire family for the past 46 years of this event, which supports the sight-saving and other charitable activities of the club. For more info, contact Lion Jim Boulais at [email protected] .No automatic alt text available.

Dear Community & Local Artist On Sunday, November 18, Agonist Gallery will host another in our series of Artists Markets. All area visual artists are invited to bring 1-3 pieces for display in the gallery for the day- 11 am to 4 pm. There are no commissions on sales, and the price to exhibit is only $10 at the door. There will be no charge for our visitors, and there is ample parking.
 
Bring some new work to share and test out. Our Artists Markets are a place for artists’ to show new work without great expense or time commitment. Accepted work includes photography, painting, and sculpture. No crafts. Work will be hung on display panels normally used for outdoor art fairs.
 
There will be time to set-up between 10:30 am and 11 am. Hope to see you there!
