A woman hiding in a convent helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she rediscovers her own.
Based on the hit Movie, Sister Act is a high energy comedy with a witty script. Deloris, a sassy and headstrong African American singer with great talent and ambition, but very little success, witnesses a murder committed by her gangster boyfriend, Curtis. Police Officer and Deloris’ former classmate Eddie, hides her in a convent until she can testify in court. Deloris brings new life to the failing church with her high energy funky gospel, and discovers what it means to be a part of something more meaningful than fame.
Featuring original music by Tony- and eight-time Oscar-winner, Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
In Partnership with the Five Corner Cupboard Food Pantry the Opera House Players will be collecting food and personal care necessities for local families in need during the run of Sister Act. Please consider bringing non-perishable food, or basic needs such as diapers and soap. The holidays may be over, but hunger has no season. Together we can make a difference in our community.
