Annual Walk for Nutmeg Senior Rides (fundraiser)
Registration: 10:30
Walk: 11:00
About us
The mission of Nutmeg Senior Rides is to improve the quality of life for seniors 50 and older and adults with visual impairments by providing affordable, door-through-door, personal transportation.
Rides to work are available and service is 365 days a year.
Volunteers provide over 50% of our rides, and are the key factor in keeping rides available & affordable, keeping program costs down, and keeping our program intrinsically connected to the community.
We improve access to health care. We are flexible so that a member can go to the doctor and then to the pharmacy on the way home.We allow people to “age in place” without being home bound. Most will age in neighborhoods where daily activities will require personal transportation. Absent access to affordable travel options, seniors face isolation, a reduced quality of life, and possible economic hardship.

Nutmeg Senior Rides is a 501 (c)(3) organization that relies on donations to supplement fares.
David Dumais, our Community Chairperson, has announced that to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Richard Ellsworth will be playing his fiddle during the Annual Walk for Nutmeg Senior Rides.
Richard Ellsworth is a traditional Irish fiddle player based in the Farmington Valley. His introduction to the violin was through classical music, but drawn by Irish Music, he studied traditional styles from Donegal and Sligo with the legendary P.V. O’Donnell, and All-Ireland Champion Brian Conway. Richard performs regularly at local Irish pub sessions, weddings, private events, and various St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
We will all have a bit of Irish step in us as we walk the Enfield Square mall on Saturday, March 17th.
