The Connecticut Trolley Museum (CTM) presents June events
June 11th– Fire Truck Show & First Responders Day– The event will give visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with all aspects of the firefighting industry including over twenty First Responder Vehicles. During your visit you will also learn more about the Fire Truck Museum’s (housed on the same grounds of the Trolley Museum) collection along with local First Responders’ equipment & vehicles. Don’t miss your opportunity to sit in real fire trucks, try on firefighter’s turnout gear and take home a souvenir kid’s fire fighter hat. Kids will enjoy crafts and hands-on activities! Take a trolley ride on one of the Museum’s antique trolleys, navigate through the Visitors Center packed full of historic trolleys & dress up as a junior motorman at the imagination station. Admission prices are $13 for Adults, $11 for Children ages 2-11 & half off for Museum Members.
June 19th– Father’s Day Behind the Scenes Tour & Guest Motorman Day-“Behind-the-Scenes” tour will give visitors the opportunity to take a close-up look at some of the current restoration projects including Connecticut Company Car #3001 (almost 121 years old!), Brooklyn Rapid Transit #169 (128 years old!) & Northern Ohio Traction & Light Co. #1500 (113 years old!). Additionally, tour the grounds that are normally closed off to visitors with a Museum guide and watch Pump Car Demonstrations. Admission prices are $13 for Adults, $11 for Children ages 2-11 & half off for Museum Members. Dads and Granddads receive FREE admission when accompanied by a paying adult or child. “Guest Motorman Experience” will give Dads and Granddad’s the chance to get behind the controllers and operate a trolley under the guidance of your instructor for a mini lesson on how to operate a trolley. The program is for Adults only. Cost is $15 to operate the trolley.
June 21st– Summer Hours Begin– All summer long CTM will hold many activities including– Trolley Rides: Take a trolley ride operated by period dressed motormen on a trolley car dating back to the early 1900’s. Learn historic information about the collection and how the Museum began. Trolley Experiences: Get up close and personal as you climb aboard selected trolleys from the Museum’s incredible collection in the Visitors Center. From streetcars to Interurban cars this is your chance to take the controllers and let your imagination “operate”. Crafting Station: Make a Motorman Hat and create your own trolley fare ticket. Take your new creations home with you for future use. Dress-up Station: Dress up as a Motorman or Conductor! Great Photo op! Fire Truck Museum: View over 15 Fire Trucks dating back to 1923. Learn more about the Fire Truck Museum’s collection along with historic Fire Fighting Equipment. (Admission to Fire Truck Museum is included in the Trolley Museum admission ticket). Storytime Trolleys: Featuring stories about the adventures of trolleys and trains. The reading will be inside one of our historic trolleys and a trolley ride will follow. Every story is different and all ages are welcome! Storytime is included with admission. Admission prices are $11 for Adults, $10 for Seniors, $8 for Children ages 2-11 & half off for Museum Members.
Save the Date- Summer Music Series- July 8th– Victrola & Aug 12th– Just Jeannie- Join the Trolley Museum for live music in the outside courtyard and take a trolley ride while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Bring your own lawn chair and pack yourself a picnic basket full of your favorite goodies (bring-your-own beer and wine is allowed) for relaxing while listening to the music. Admission prices are $11 for Adults, $10 for Seniors, $8 for Children ages 2-11 & half off for Museum Members
