This from a post by the East Windsor Lions Club- If you wish to Serve Our Community (and the World) You should check them out!
Hello East Windsor Community , The East Windsor Lions Club has been in existence for 70 years.
This is an event they are sponsoring this week-
During that time, Our Lion Club Members have made many contributions to the Town.
In the 1960’s the East Windsor Lions Club was the first town civic organization to initially help develop the park on Reservoir Avenue in Broad Brook (The RES and now East Windsor Park).
In 1978 the East Windsor Lions Club provided the funds for the purchase of the first ambulance for the East Windsor Ambulance Association( an iorganization which continues to Serve our Community).
In 1999 the East Windsor Lions Club provided $10,000 to help build the Scout Hall Youth Center( which is now in the process of becoming Our Communities 1st Community Center).
Funds for these were raised through Community Bike rides, Annual Turkey Shoot, Farmers’ Breakfasts, Tag Sales and Golf tournaments
All EW Lions Club money raised from these Community-supported fundraising activities are distributed to Lions programs and Community service projects.
As a 501©3 non-profit organization so donations can be used as tax write off.
Continuing and living up to our motto “WE SERVE” the community by also providing large print books at the Warehouse Point Library, High School Scholarships, eye glasses and hearing aids for those in need, support for the Boy Scout and Girl Scout activities, the East Windsor High School Leo Club, with past support for the Little League and Visiting Nurse Association.
Outside of our Town, we support other charitable programs at Fidelco, the American School for the Deaf, CRIS Radio, and the CT Lions Vision Centers. We do pediatric eye screening at the Broad Brook School and bring a token of cheer to shut in seniors at Christmas time.
Lions Clubs International is the largest public service organization in the world, reaching activity in almost every country.
When a disaster strikes anywhere on the globe, Lions react, backed up by Lions CIubs International Foundation which provides the assistance that is needed. We did this during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the devastating tornadoes in Kentucky, to name a few.
Lions are there wherever there is a need!
Starting with the their local community but they always are ready to assist globally, through Lions Clubs International Foundation.
Our efforts with eye research helped eradicate river blindness in many low-income areas of Africa. Preserving eye sight is our main focus and to that end we also focus on diabetes which is the main cause of adult blindness. We were significant in the development of the drug for macular degeneration.
BUT WE Need You so we can Roar really LOUD (and More).
The East Windsor Lions Club is seeking enlist Community individuals who assist us in continuing the Needed Service to our community, the ideals of Lions Clubs International and to fulfill the concerns of the future.

The requirement to attend meetings which used to in place no longer is there thus allowing those who can’t make every meeting to still be a Lion.
However when Attending the Meeting it ensures and grows a real sense of camaraderie and community of purpose.
Would you consider 1st in assisting at one of Our Events (and then maybe step up and become a member).
Truth is We are hurting for people-power. We can’t continue our good work without more helping hands.
We are the charter organization of the Boy Scouts Troop 89 and also operate a Town based Leos Club for Young People.
Without the East Windsor Lions, what will happen to the Scouts? To the Leo Club? To the continuing good work that we do?
We meet on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 630pm September through June. Right now our meetings take place at the Warehouse Point Library. All are Welcome to attend.
We would love you to stop by and get to know us.
