East Windsor Public Schools announces that East Windsor High School Launches New STEM Program.

Funded by a U.S. Department of Defense grant, East Windsor High School has become one of just four schools statewide to offer a next generation STEM program for students that will include short-term and long-term engineering projects, LEGO robotics, and even a STEM class through Dungeons & Dragons.
By engaging students in hands-on, student-centered learning, STARBASE offers unique learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom to showcase civilian and military career options that are available to young people as they are looking to step into the world to become thriving and contributing members of society.
The program being offered by STARBASE and East Windsor High School is aimed at creating a unique student-driven program of engineering and research in which the students will be the catalyst and driving force of the program.
The participating students will be involved from planning to completion of the program to create and execute a program that gives them the opportunity to dive into and direct their own learning experience that will culminate in a product that they were researchers, designers, engineers, and technicians in its creation.
It is the goal of East Windsor High School and STARBASE to offer a truly unique opportunity to develop a passion for learning, creating, and producing work that is not usually found in the traditional classroom.
“The program aims to expose our students to technological environments and role models, providing 25 hours of hands-on instruction,” explained Assistant Principal Barbara Kaminski. “It is another way that we are giving our students opportunities they can not get anywhere else.”
The program has impacted over 30,000 students and offers additional support like science fair coaching and summer camps. Educators rave about the program’s positive influence on students’ confidence, problem-solving skills, and future aspirations.
“It is a remarkable program, and will definitely help our students with whatever they choose to pursue in college and beyond,” Mrs. Kaminski said.
Students will be meeting on Dec. 9th to learn more and enroll in the program, which begins in January.
